[Seoul June 20] Korea’s Min Ji Park fired a final round two-under-par 70 to claim the DB Group Korea Women’s Open 2021 with her winning total of 17-under-par 271 at the highly rated Rainbow Hills Country Club on Sunday.

Victory at the DB Group Korea Women’s Open, which is the first tournament of the newly minted Ladies Asian Tour (LAT) series organised by the Asian Golf Leaders Forum (AGLF), is Park’s fifth win of the 2021 KLPGA season and also her maiden KLPGA major title.

Backed by the R&A, the LAT Series aims to boost Asian women’s golf starting with the DB Group Korea Women’s Open followed by the Hana Financial Group Championship in late September and the Hana Financial Group Singapore Women’s Open in early December.

Park Min-ji started the day with a slender one-shot lead over Park Hyun-kyung but briefly lost her position atop the leaderboard after dropping two shots on the third and fourth holes. She regained her lead by firing three successive birdies starting from the sixth hole.

It was a tussle for the championship between the two Parks until the final hole when Hyun-kyung’s wayward tee shot landed in the rough, handling the advantage over to Min-ji. Victory for Min-ji was confirmed when she signed off with a closing birdie on the par-four 18 as Hyun-kyung had to sign for a bogey.
